CURTAINWALL
Curtainwalls make up a large percentage of a Glaziers income and with this, comes some of the largest risk in the industry.
We have all seen the good and the bad.
What should have been simple, turns harsh, quickly!
Our goal is prevention! We look for issues regarding: anchoring, flashing, sealant location, and much more.
While it is never possible to anticipate every change that will occur during the construction process, proper preplanning will allow for tolerances that can accommodate
many of the unforeseen problems, so the system can still achieve the desired goals and profit margins.
See what you can expect when you choose us!
CUSTOMER PREFERENCE IN THE DESIGN INTENT
YOU HAVE PREFERENCES AND WE RESPECT THAT!
Your experienced team knows what works best for them and how they prefer to achieve a goal. Please let us know your preferences and we will set up either job specific or company specific preference charts.
Typically, open horizontals or tube horizontals work to the same finished result. Whether, stick build or standing "ladder" assembled sections, we are here to help! Likewise, we try our best to accommodate YOUR preferred perimeter style. If you prefer perimeter extrusions or perimeter pressure plate, we are here to help! Inside glaze or exterior glaze? Again, WE ARE HERE TO HELP!!
HAPPY GLAZIERS HAPPY LIFE!
We are looking at the full process while designing the system!
Our first goal, is to make the project go as smoothly as possible!
We look for certain markers before we start the drafting process.
Where there are clerestory openings that are easier to glaze from the inside:
WE ASK!
Where moving the system in or out will provide a better installation:
WE SUGGEST!
Where we have markers, on the Architectural Drawings, that help the installation crew know where to locate the system, or things to align with during layout:
WE INCLUDE THEM!
ANYTHING WE FIND, THAT ASSISTS THE INSTALLATION OR FABRICATION TEAM, WE DO OUR BEST TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
We are on constant look out for the "typical" mistakes, as well as some unusual ones!
SILL PANS
Though sill pans, under Curtainwalls, are commonly shown in the details, many manufacturers suggest against this practice. And, we agree with this. When these are shown, we redesign it to show a standard flashing detail, incorporated into the waterproofing system and notated (by others) whenever possible.
THROUGH WALL AND SEALANT FLASHING
This type of flashing should ALWAYS be used and always supplied by the contractor/water proofing subcontractor! These must be tied into the overall waterproofing system and therefore, this liability should not fall on the Glazing team! There is not a "one size fits all" flashing setup, that incorporates all facades! With years of field diagnostic work and leak repair, we can fix most leaks BEFORE THEY HAPPEN! Please feel free to contact us, if you are bidding on a project that waterproofing is a concern. There are details and information available, that can save you effort and liability. Giving the Contractor and Architect the heads-up early-on, makes YOU THE PREFERED SOURCE, instead of "the problem", if it waits and becomes a delay!
COMPATABILITY
This is one of the most underrated problems! Not all sealants are created equally! Many products need minimum distances from each other. During the curing process, chemicals are released that can damage other sealants, in close proximity. We always try to insure proper distances; but better yet, we also ALWAYS recommend, that a form letter be sent to the G.C., directing that all products are approved and signed off on, by the waterproofing consultant/subcontractor!
TAKING THE EXTRA STEPS TO INSURE LESS REVISIONS
Taking the extra steps so you don't have to!
We know that during the design and submittal stage, you have plenty on your plate. The shop drawings should not be your concern! You hired professionals, to tend to this and you should receive professional service! Once we receive all of the information to begin, you can rest assured in the knowledge, that your best interest is our goal! We perform a pre-check against Manufacturer Guidelines. This does not replace the use of a qualified Engineer, but prevents most issues BEFORE SUBMITTAL!! (Engineering is available when required.)
